Just bought my first car, what should I be doing to maintain it?

I finally got my first car, and while I'm really excited, I'll admit I don't know much about what it needs to stay in good shape. I know I have to get the oil changed, but beyond that, I'm a bit lost. I want to be a responsible owner and avoid big problems later, but there's so much conflicting advice online. I'm trying to learn about routine car care best practices to set a good schedule from the start. Things like how often to check fluids, tire pressure, and what to look out for regarding the battery in our heat. Since I live near Al Quoz, I'll eventually need to find a good local garage, but first I want to understand the basics myself. Does anyone have a simple checklist or advice for a complete beginner on keeping their car reliable?
