Living in Rosendale but working across the river, does that complicate things?

Post by voidRider33 »

I'm trying to get my head straight about how this whole workers' comp thing works when you live in one place and work in another. I live in Rosendale but I work across the river at a distribution center in Ulster County, and I got hurt on the job about three months ago when a pallet jack slipped and pinned my leg against a loading dock. Nothing broken thankfully, but I did some damage to my knee that's been slow to heal. I filed my claim through my employer and I've been getting my checks, but I keep seeing lawyers advertise as being in specific towns and I'm not sure if I should be looking for someone in Rosendale where I live or someone closer to where my job is based. I found a Hudson Valley work injury attorney Rosendale online that seems to cover this whole area, but I'm wondering if it matters where your lawyer is located when it comes to hearings and stuff. Does the case get heard in the county where you work or where you live? I'm trying to get ahead of any potential issues before they become problems because the insurance company has already started giving me a little bit of attitude about my physical therapy and I want to have someone lined up in case things go south. Anyone else here live in one town but work in another and have to deal with this? Did it make things more complicated or is it pretty standard for the area?
